Best Fabric Cutting Machines: Reviews
1. Cricut Explore Air Wireless Cutting Machine
Here we have a moderately priced and very high-quality fabric cutting machine, the Cricut Explore Air Wireless Cutting Machine, which is perfect for arts and crafts, and so much more.
The Cricut Explore Air Wireless Cutting Machine is a wireless and Bluetooth-enabled fabric cutting machine, which means that you can wirelessly control it and cut out your designs using your computer, tablet, or advanced smartphone.
It comes with a dual carriage, so it can cut fabric and write, or cut fabric and score materials in the same step, saving you time.
It also comes with an advanced dial for setting options, and this machine can handle well over 60 material types, everything from leather to vellum.
You can upload your own materials, it comes with onboard storage compartments, and it features Smart Cut precision cutting.
2. Cricut Maker Champagne
This is a slightly more expensive option, the Cricut Maker, which is quite an advanced fabric cutting machine with a lot of functionality.
The Cricut Maker comes with 2 types of blades, which include a premium fine point blade as well as a rotary blade. The rotary blade can cut through pretty much any type of fabric, and even things like crepe paper and felt, without needing backing. The knife blade can cut heavier materials like balsa and matboard.
There is also a variety of pens and scoring tools included. The Cricut Maker Champagne is something you can use for a variety of jobs including balsa models, leather crafts, sewing projects, iron-ons, vinyl decals, paper crafts, and more. Thanks to the wide variety of advanced tools, it can handle pretty much any fabric cutting job. Simply lay out the design on your computer or tablet, select the right tool for the job, and the machine is ready to cut out your designs.
3. Brother CM350 Electronic Cutting Machine
Here we have a more affordable option, and although it does not cost quite as much as either of the other fabric cutters we have reviewed, it’s still a fairly high-quality model to consider.
The Brother CM350 Electronic Cutting Machine comes with its own 4.85 inch color LCD screen, from which you can choose all your settings.
It’s a feature that helps to make life a whole lot easier, especially because it allows you to perform on-screen editing of your projects.
What’s also nice about this machine is that you can connect it to your PC using the included cables, or you can use the wireless function.
What you also might like about the Brother CM350 Electronic Cutting Machine is that it comes with a decent 12 x 12 inch scanning and cutting area, which is more than large enough for most basic jobs. It even comes with a built -n scanner, so you can scan images and turn them into designs.
4. Sizzix 660425 Big Shot Machine
This is an interesting choice and it’s more like an embossing machine, with some features of a fabric cutting machine than anything else, and it comes at a very low price.
The Sizzix 660425 Big Shot Machine is not huge, as it can only work with materials up to 6 inches wide, but it does make for a good choice for smaller home arts and crafts projects. It is a simple little machine that can emboss and die cut a variety of materials.
However, keep in mind that the Sizzix 660425 Big Shot Machine is designed for thinner and harder materials, such as paper and construction paper, but it performs quite well with these materials. It’s a good option for beginners.
5. Silhouette Cameo Electronic Cutting Tool
Here we have another fairly expensive option to go with, about the same price as the first one we looked at.
The Silhouette Cameo Electronic Cutting Tool can perform a variety of jobs including making cards, vinyl cut-outs, scrapbook layouts, custom apparel, etched glass, paper crafts, and much more. It’s a versatile option, and it performs really well when it comes to intricate and precision cuts, as well as duplicating the same thing over and over again.
It comes with a fairly large 12-inch cutting matt, a good cutting blade, many designs, and an app that features thousands of designs for you to choose from.
If it’s a really high-quality fabric cutting machine you are looking for, the Cricut Maker, Champagne is probably what you want to go with, although the model from Brother is also very nice due to the fact that it comes with its own scanner and touchscreen control display.
That being said, all the options we reviewed are good — it just depends on what you need the fabric cutter for.
